Dotnaught writes "Greg Slepak, founder of software company Tao Effect, wrote Apple CEO Steve Jobs to complain about Apple's mandate that iPhone applications be originally written in C/C++/Objective-C. Job's response was to endorse a post by John Gruber on the Daring Fireball blog. Jobs called it 'very insightful,' suggesting Gruber's prediction that third-party iPhone development tools are out might be right. Jobs sent a second reply that also doesn't bode well for third-party iPhone development tools: 'We've been there before, and intermediate layers between the platform and the developer ultimately produces sub-standard apps and hinders the progress of the platform.'"pa href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fapple.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F10%2F04%2F11%2F0719213%2FSteve-Jobs-Weighs-In-On-iPhone-Programming-Language-Mandate" target="_blank" title="Share on Facebook"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png"/a a href="http://twitter.com/home?status=Steve+Jobs+Weighs+In+On+iPhone+Program ming+Language+Mandate%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2Fatj eA5" target="_blank" title="Share on Twitter"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png"/a/ppa href="http://apple.slashdot.org/story/10/04/11/0719213/Steve-Jobs-Weighs-In-On-iPhone-Programming-Language-Mandate?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./ppa href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/oAtujpcz-Bk5wTVxzzPgS97LyIU/0/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/oAtujpcz-Bk5wTVxzzPgS97LyIU/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/abr/a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/oAtujpcz-Bk5wTVxzzPgS97LyIU/1/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/oAtujpcz-Bk5wTVxzzPgS97LyIU/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Slashdot/slashdotDevelopers/~4/of5mu2HQO5M" height="1" width="1"/
