Default IEEE Introduces Mario Level-Generation Competition

bgweber writes "Last year, the IEEE conference on Computational Intelligence and Games hosted a competition to determine who could write the best AI for playing Mario levels (YouTube video). This year, the conference has expanded the competition to include a track on level generation as well, where the goal is to generate new levels online procedurally. Submitting an entry is as easy as implementing a Java interface that performs procedural content generation. The implications of this competition are techniques for greatly increasing the replayability of games, since each gameplay session could present new levels to the player."pa href="http://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fgames.slashdot.org%2Fsto ry%2F10%2F04%2F24%2F2327249%2FIEEE-Introduces-Mario-Level-Generation-Competition" target="_blank" title="Share on Facebook"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/facebook_icon_large.png"/a a href="http://twitter.com/home?status=IEEE+Introduces+Mario+Level-Generation+Competition%3A+http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2FaV CpFa" target="_blank" title="Share on Twitter"img src="http://a.fsdn.com/sd/twitter_icon_large.png"/a/ppa href="http://games.slashdot.org/story/10/04/24/2327249/IEEE-Introduces-Mario-Level-Generation-Competition?from=rss"Read more of this story/a at Slashdot./ppa href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/wYUATvjz89-fDH9N5-gTmAexRTA/0/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/wYUATvjz89-fDH9N5-gTmAexRTA/0/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/abr/a href="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/wYUATvjz89-fDH9N5-gTmAexRTA/1/da"img src="http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~at/wYUATvjz89-fDH9N5-gTmAexRTA/1/di" border="0" ismap="true"/img/a/pimg src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Slashdot/slashdotDevelopers/~4/X2rh-v9M5YQ" height="1" width="1"/
